Throughout my years in the IB Middle Years Program, my favourite course was Design as I enjoyed innovating to develop solutions to the challenge or prompt presented. I also have a strong passion for making a positive difference in the world. Hence, as Design is not a DP Course, when I was presented the opportunity of YELL, I was drawn to apply as it provided the best of both worlds, design thinking and changemaking, utilizing an entrepreneurial mindset and skillset. YELL has provided me with in-class entrepreneurial learning in an environment in which I am able to discuss and collaborate with other passionate and like-minded individuals.

As we step into the classroom Mr. Mak guides and encourages us to look through different worldview lenses to get into the entrepreneurial space, which allows us to be creative with our learning. When preparing for the Venture Challenge, we received guidance from our mentor who is a Founder and CEO. We were equipped with a new skill set and learned how to produce an effective business model, factoring in the components of a strong pitch. I left every meeting feeling more and more inspired and passionate about the company we are developing.

Moreover, this course has helped me develop life-long skills that I can use within my daily life, particularly through various workshops such as negotiation, finance, digital marketing, and networking coaching. YELL has taught me that being an entrepreneur is not only someone who creates a business but is someone who aspires to build a company based on what the world needs to create and design a better future.

There are no words to describe how valuable taking YELL is. Not only is it everything any high school business class should be, but an opportunity to be part of a supportive network of leaders. If I had a chance to retake YELL but have to pay, there is no doubt that I would pay for this impactful program. From the curriculum, successful mentorship network, and venture challenge, the program’s features make it like no other. Whether you’re learning about science or business in post-secondary, every student will take something valuable and be able to apply it to their post-secondary classroom and reach success.

YELL truly sets you up for success; you have a team of the best support system throughout your journey as a student and alumni. After the program, you’ll have access to opportunities with like-minded peers that will help you develop as a leader and learner. I am very grateful to have taken this program; $1500 for YELL is a deal for a program like YELL. I hope to see you join our family.

If it were not for YELL Canada, I would not be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business. YELL Canada provides students with the knowledge and hands-on learning that is not available in traditional business classrooms. By joining YELL, students join a community of like-minded and eager students that become life-long friends. YELL Canada has changed my perspective of how I see the world and what I believe is possible. This program is a transformative experience, and I recommend it to every student, regardless of the career you are planning to pursue. YELL is an invaluable program for the knowledge, people and mindset you will develop through its duration.
